Turning Over New Leaves

Today In Texas

by Judy Sander Cockrell

As I sit here in the great state of Texas, I often wondered why more of my family didn't pass through or live at one time in this largest state in the union. After all, it's been a state since 1845, and the lack of rolling hills would have made that wagon ride a cinch! But no, that would have made my genealogy research far too simple. I would never dream of being able to drive 5 miles to downtown Fort Worth, and find my family waiting for me in the books of one of the largest genealogy libraries in central Texas.

For those of you who have family from this part of the country, you are in luck! There are many wonderful Texas sites, new and old on the Internet, and here is one of my favorites.

This week's site is owned by Gordon Andrews, and is packed with lots of interesting Texas links. For anybody interested in the Andrews lineage, Gordon has it covered. Everything is bigger in Texas as they say, and the Andrew family is one to prove just that.

So jump off that there horse, hitch 'er up to the post, and belly up to the Texas research links at the bottom of his home page.

If you've never been to Texas, you're fixin' to see just how big this lone star state is!
