Memories Not Forgotten

Richard (Dick) Leddy

by Barbara Olivier

Richard (Dick) Leddy OUR DEAR FRIEND Richard passed away on May 6, 2000. We will miss him (IRC nickname scooter), his patience and all the happiness he brought to #genealogy-help chat!

He and Virginia (IRC nickname gini) were a great help and they were the first to ever be married on the chat channel, which was of great interest to all as so many were involved with lots of preprations that will never be forgotten!

His talents were much appreciated by all, especially his computer and HTML knowledge. He also found a long lost daughter through the net that sent him dancing!

A memorial was held on May 23rd for Richard in the #genealogy-help chat room -- here is a partial transcript of the session.

RICHARD WE WILL MISS YOU!

Our prayers go out to his lovely family!

Family of Richard:
  Wife, Virginia Leddy

SHORT BIO Of Richard (Dick) Leddy

Dick was born almost 70 years ago in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Harold and Estelle. He is was an only child. He Lived in Jersey City, N.J. until 1963, then moved to California, where he lived until 1992. He then lived in Las Vegas and Phoenix for a few years, then moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, in 1995.

Dick had a major stroke in Dec. 1998, which left him with only about 80% of his memory, and partially blind. His wife, Virginia, would help him all the time. He spent about 8-10 hours a day on the PC, working on his pages. He was NOT a professional researcher, but enjoyed sharing what he did find.

Richard Leddy, webmaster of CIVIL WAR ROSTERS ARRANGED BY STATE, will be solely missed by family and friends. We thank him for all the wonderful things he has done.

God Bless!

I would like to thank Barbara for all the work and effort she has put forth in making this page in memory of my husband. We met Barbara in a genealogy chat line several years ago and have tried to keep in touch as much as each of our lives would allow. She has always been there for us, as so many people have.

Thank you, Barbara!

Love,
Gini (Virginia Leddy)
