b.May 3, 1830 in Beverly, Essex, MA; died Sept 19, 1922 in Beverly, Essex, MA. He was the son of Peter Clark, Jr. and Abagail (Nabby) Preston. He married Lydia Augusta Cressy on June 06, 1852 In Beverly, Essex, MA (Source: The Beverly Times, dated June 6, 1908). He was a Shoe Manufacturer and Inventor of the Buttonhole and cord and stay, which was in use on the button shoe until the "worked button hole. Formed the firm Clark and Holbrook in Hartford CN, with George A. Holbrook. He was proprietor of the Clark Opera House in Beverly, Essex, MA which was torn down for the building of the Beverly Gas and Electric Company. Civic Minded.
