About the Author

I got interested in family history when I was a child as our family has been having a reunion since at least 1922. There has always been someone working on the family tree. I became even more interested when I began helping my husband with his genealogy... (I think I began taking my own for granted). I got interested in the Civil War at about the same time when I transcribed about 50 letters that my hubby's great grandfather wrote home to his wife during the war. I also have a Civil War ancestor but my search for him has been anything but easy. Too bad I wasn't really interested when my great-grandmother was still alive.

I am a host in America Online's Genealogy Forum in the American Civil War History Special Interest Group (Thurs night 11 PM ET) where we discuss the history of the war, we don't fight it. We also send out a newsletter (which I edit when our editor's paying job demands all of his time), called the Weekly Fireside to over 800 folks. In the Forum I also host the DE/MD special interest group (Thurs night 9 PM ET) and I help out in a Beginner's room.

I have been married to my husband for 32 years in June of 2000 and have two son's and three grandsons. Ben is a native "Blue Hen" and I hail from Chester County, PA One of our favorite pastimes is stomping thru old cemeteries. We belong to, and are on the Board of the Delaware Genealogical Society http://www.delgensoc.org We're also members of the Newark Historical Society and the Historical Society of Cecil County, MD. http://www.cc history.org
