Writers Join Genealogy Today Staff

Genealogy Today (www.genealogytoday.com) is pleased to announce that two new writers, Ruby Coleman and Bob Brooke, both former writers for Antique Week, will be featured in their monthly namesake e-zine, Genealogy Today (a.k.a. GenToday-L).

"Joining the Genealogy Today team will provide me with a great opportunity to share my knowledge of genealogy methods and resources with a larger audience of readers," explained Ruby Coleman. Ruby is a genealogical author, professional researcher, lecturer, instructor and freelance writer. She is a contributing writer for Computer Interest Group Newsletter of the Colorado Genealogical Society and the Illinois State Genealogical Society publications.

In November 2000, Antique Week, one of the largest newspapers for antique collectors, abruptly announced that they were discontinuing their Genealogy Week feature. In their words, "Genealogy has been a part of the newspaper since its inception in 1968 but its following has slowly diminished."

"I'm honored to join the team at Genealogy Today. After writing a column for two years for Genealogy Week and being told suddenly that it was stopping publication, I was glad to find a new publisher and to be able to offer my expertise to their avid readers," commented Bob Brooke. Bob will continue his Everyday Genealogy, a monthly column that delves into the historical side of genealogy, focusing on family history, long-lost occupations, historical misconceptions, and profiles of top genealogical libraries.
