Team Roots

This free service was established in 2000 to provide visitors of Genealogy Today with password-protected access to special features and content. Over the years we have continued to add new tools and resources available only to our members.

Membership is free; there are no obligations to make any purchases; your personal information is password protected and never shared with anyone; and you will NOT be bombarded with e-mails by joining.

In addition, these membership accounts are used to provide secure access for our affiliate, merchant, writing and data entry programs.

Here are highlights of past member updates:

Thursday, March 1, 2007

The following services have been added or upgraded:

The favorites (a.k.a. bookmarks) feature originally launched in 2001 has been upgraded to allow for notes to be added to the bookmarks. In addition, search results will now be bookmarkable.

The surname profiles feature (an original Team Roots feature) has been expanded to allow visitors to browse public posts made by members relating to a surname.

Several query services, including First Name Basis and Family Tree Climbers, have been combined into a single (fully-searchable) forum for members.

Comments (both public and private) may now be added to resources by members, allowing researchers to contribute additional facts they may have about the names in any of the fourteen active database projects at the GenealogyToday.com web site.

    Membership Overview
Every member is given a personalized start page, where you can enter the surnames you are researching and use quick links to see matching resources on our site and across the Internet.

Members may also create bookmarks for any resource published or referenced on our site, as well as, specific records in our databases, making it easy to track when information is updated.

    Volunteer Program
Members can help keep Genealogy Today running smoothly by electing to become a Team Roots Volunteer. Volunteers are given the appropriate security clearance to review and adjust submissions to our databases.

These volunteers help by removing any inappropriate listings quicker, and cleaning up out-of-date listings. Visit the Volunteers section for more details and additional ways you can help out.

    Do You Like to Write?
Members can elect to become a Team Roots Writer and earn cash by submitting articles and news stories. For more details, visit the Writing section.

We are also always looking for new writers to join our GenWeekly team. This is another way members can earn cash for their writing efforts. If you are interested, visit the GenWeekly website and contact the editor.

    Webmaster Opportunity
Join our team of affiliates by promoting products on your own web site and start earning commission from every customer you refer. The amount you earn per sale depends on the products that get purchased, but most commissions are five percent (5%) of the purchase price. Visit our Affiliate page for more information and to apply.

    Become an Online Realtor
We are always looking to bring additional genealogy (and related topic) web sites into our portfolio. If you see a site for sale, and help us acquire it, you'll receive a commission... just like a real estate agent! Use the email form in the Feedback section to let us know when you spot a potential property.

    Additional Benefits
When we run special database promotions, Team Roots members will usually have early access, giving them additional research time.

Whenever a new feature is added to Genealogy Today, members get to access it first, usually 48 hours before it goes public.

Post to our Genealogy Calendar any local and regional events, reunions or book fairs that you want to promote.

Every few months we run special discounts for items in our marketplace exclusively for members.
