Ancestry and Genealogy at MyTrees.com

Pedigree-linked data and the contact information of other people doing research on related family lines are key factors in their exponential approach to doing genealogy.

Find those Elusive Ancestors

Build your Family History with a Family Search from Birth Records, Marriage Records, Death Records, and - of course - Family Trees in the Ancestry Archive. This database consists of pedigrees submitted by thousands of patrons from around the world, and the automatic indexing of other Internet genealogy sites, making MyTrees.com the first true genealogy search engine on the Internet.

MyTrees.com takes the content of the family genealogy database, known as a GEDCOM file, and matches the names and file information against a 47 million name archive. Found matches are listed as links to pedigrees submitted by other users. The viewer can then check these pedigrees to see how much of the data exactly matches the data being submitted and what additional names can be found. Each file found also lists the name of the submitter at the top of the screen and source notes at the bottom of the screen. They have found that this additional service helps families find one another and work together to further connect their family pedigrees.

This pedigree search tool saves hours of searching for genealogical data on other genealogy sites or in the library on a name-by-name basis.

Search All Extracted Records

MyTrees.com has extracted genealogy and vital records from all over the world. They include birth, marriage, death, census, and military records. Some of these records include images of the original documents. Others have been placed in pedigree format for easy access and readability. New genealogy records are added on a continuous basis, so if they don't have what you're looking for right now, be sure to check back with them later.

With the addition of over 10 million extracted census and state birth records, MyTrees.com has found that many users want to search these records separately from their pedigree archives. To address this concern, they have added search screens within extracted records, where you can choose from Canada, United Kingdom, United States, US Pioneer Database Archives, Census Records, and many other regions and subject specific titles.

An enhanced surname browse window lets you enter either a few letters or a full surname and within just seconds you will see your surnames represented at their web site. Simply click the surname spelling you wish to see and immediately you will have success in viewing an impressive set of search results.

When you do a search at MyTrees.com you are given the opportunity to select one of the following four options to identify which data quality priority is important in your search. The four options are: Generations: The number of generations in the selected pedigree beyond the search individual (Default Setting); Ancestors: The number of ancestors in the selected pedigree beyond the search individual; Completion: The percent of major fields (e.g. birth, marriage, death - dates and places) filled in with data for the selected pedigree; Documentation: The average number of characters (bytes) of notes and historical information per record (individual and family) over the selected pedigree.
