Reading Company Service Records
The Reading Company, a.k.a. Reading Railroad, and officially known as the Philadelphia and Reading Rail Road and then the Philadelphia and Reading Railway until 1924, operated in southeast Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
The Reading Company's railroad was merged into Conrail in 1976.
At a recent book and paper show, we stumbled upon a pile of papers that turned out to be 500 service records for Reading Company
employees ranging from 1883 to 1964. The records include name, photo, birth date, birth place, educational background, present age and position, complete service records (all positions held and location), and any examinations they have taken.
Reprints of these records can be ordered for a nominal fee. Fees vary based on the number of pages in the employee's file.
