Genealogy Today has been publishing unique information and offering innovative services since 1999. Our goal is to help everyone that visits, and hope to become one of your favorite providers of genealogy and family history resources.

Designed with the primary goal of keeping genealogists informed of the latest research techniques and resources available, Genealogy Today is a specialized portal providing unique databases, search tools and original articles, along with links to the newest sites and online resources. We also offer subscription based databases and newsletters, and over 500 products in our marketplace.

Here are some of the key features of the Genealogy Today web site.

The search engine includes surname and resource components, allowing visitors to search a variety of databases and catalogs. In addition, you can preview results from numerous genealogy and online information sites.

Explanations for hundreds of genealogical terms, along with historical sketches and images of original documents are contained in the "family history wiki." Visitors are welcome to contribute transcribed materials or scanned documents.

Free articles published every month from our team of insightful genealogists to help you locate a variety of research materials and also understand how to use them.

This site offers a selection of both free and fee-based databases (clearly marked with a dollar sign). The name indexes of the latter may be searched without a subscription.

Our subscription data area includes over 5,000 transcriptions -- including Masonic lodge rosters, funeral notices, school catalogues, telephone directories, insurance claims, rural farm and city directories, church member lists, etc. -- from original documents.

Here are some of the special collections developed by Genealogy Today.

" Funeral Cards Online ." A searchable index of funeral cards ( a.k.a. mourning or remembrance cards ) that provide clues like death date and name of the funeral home.

" WWII War Ration Books ." Food rationing was instituted in 1942, and each family member was issued books by the Office of Price Administration (OPA). Search the largest online WW2 ration book index -- includes images.

" Business Card Collection ." Find career information like the name of employer and title of the position held. This database includes many business cards from the RAILROAD industry. Search to see if any of your ancestors left behind a calling card!
