Genealogy Today (www.genealogytoday.com) announced that it has reached an agreement to purchase Genealogy-Links.co.uk, an innovative site focusing on central England research developed in January 2000.
"My idea was to have a basic site primarily for my own benefit, whilst trying to do my own ancestry research," explained Helen Wilson, creator of the Genealogy-Links.co.uk web site. "After 8 or 9 months of starting the site, it began getting so many visitors that it was challenge to keep up with the requests. I am thrilled to be able to work with the folks at Genealogy Today to help expand the site so that it can reach a broader audience."
While the site resources concentrate on the counties of Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk, there are numerous other genealogical resources that span other areas of the country including: "One Name Studies", "Ancestors Tales", "My UK Ancestry Tree" and the popular "I'm looking for the descendants, or ancestors, of [ ... ]. Can you help?"
"Helen has really done an excellent job of developing and nurturing this site," explained Illya D'Addezio, owner of Genealogy Today. "The interface is intuitive and the features she's established are very creative and tremendously helpful for genealogists."
From county lookups, to a sale/want ad section, and several family histories, the site offers much more than its name implies. There is also a variety of free information, including downloadable data recording sheets, regional maps, and directory extracts.
"It doesn't take long working with Helen to see just how much passion she has for her projects," added Illya. "I'm excited to be able to work with her and combine our resources to enhance the sites features and expand its reach."
