Spinning a Web of Lineage

Genealogy Today is proud to announce the addition of LineageWeb to its family of sites. Launched in 1999 as an online tree for other family members to view, this site quickly expanded into hosting other families' pedigrees.

"As I gathered more information and links from visitor contributions, I decided to create a place to publish their family trees for free," commented Mike Mullins, the LineageWeb.com founder. "I think this information would be better served if it was combined with the resources of Genealogy Today."

The links and information section of the site has been preserved at the Genealogy Today web site, while the Gedcom based family trees were archived on the newly created advertising-free YourGedcom server.

"We've collected numerous Gedcom files from unsolicited submissions over the years," added Illya D'Addezio, owner of Genealogy Today. "Working with Mike was a learning experience for us to get into the family tree publishing arena. We will be expanding the services of LineageWeb to include some advanced searching capabilities in the near future."
