Genealogy Today (www.genealogytoday.com) announced the acquisition of Surname Finder, a genealogy specific search engine. Complementing the existing search facilities of Genealogy Today, this new search engine will add new capabilities.
"I started the site about three years ago," explained Melody Moss, creator of the Surname Finder web site. "And the database now has indexed about 25,000 pages. We've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the quality of the links, and our census and state archive areas. Joining the Genealogy Today family will give the site the extra support it needs to continue growing."
Handling hundreds of complex queries every day, Surname Finder quickly hunts through its extensive database of carefully selected resources to find the most suitable results. Users can search on a single surname or multiple surnames, and/or geographical locations to pinpoint sites that match their research criteria.
"Online genealogy begins with the search," remarked Illya D'Addezio, owner of Genealogy Today. "Bringing enhanced search capabilities to our family of sites will benefit the thousands of genealogists that rely on our site for research assistance on a daily basis. I'm excited to be able to work with Melody to make this happen."
Visitors to the Genealogy Today web site will have instant access to the Surname Finder database directly from within the Meta-Search engine.
